History All spirit categories have a luxury segment, except for rum. Most often associated with pirates, palm tress and parties, rum is seldom equated with luxury.
Yet the opportunity for luxury rum is enormous! Rum represents 13% of the spirits market and is the second largest category, behind vodka. Over 20 million cases of rum were sold in the United States last year and the category is growing more than 5% annually, outperforming growth in the vodka category for the first time.
Currently, “luxury” rum accounts for less than 0.1% of the total rum market. In 1998, luxury vodka occupied less than 1% of the vodka market. Today, the segment represents 8%.
10 Cane created and is leading the luxury rum segment, contributing to the rum category’s rapid growth and expansion.
Production technique 10 Cane is produced on the island of Trinidad, located south of the Caribbean archipelago northeast of Venezuela. It is distilled from the first pressing of hand-harvested sugar cane that is grown exclusively for use in our rum production.
Molasses and other by-products from sugar production are never used in the production of 10 Cane.
The pure cane juice is fermented, distilled in small batches in French pot stills, and then aged in vintage French oak barrels for 6 months. Since spirit matures much more quickly in the tropics, the necessary length of aging is fairly short. The aim in creating 10 Cane was to craft a fresh and youthful rum with primary fruit aromas. 10 Cane has a fresh, lively sugar cane character with a smooth, velvety texture, achieving perfect harmony on the palate. Its unique taste profile with both delicate and complex flavors make it a very versatile spirit: 10 Cane elevates any classic rum cocktail, such as the Mojito, Daiquiri, or Cuba Libre, but can also be enjoyed neat and on the rocks.
